Contraceptive Studies
Please note that not all contraceptive studies require participants to need protection from pregnancy. Some studies of contraceptive methods seek participants who are not at risk for pregnancy.


Depo-Provera Study

A clinical research trial for women 18-24 is currently being conducted. If you are:

  • NOT currently on Depo-Provera and have not been for at least 12 months
  • Willing to use Depo-Provera as your sole method of hormonal contraception during the study
  • Not planning a pregnancy for a year and not currently pregnant

Then you may qualify to participate. Compensation is provided. This advertisement has been approved by the Eastern Virginia Medical School Institutional Review Board. IRB#07-08-FB-0163.

Birth Control Pill Study

Clinical Research Center is conducting a clinical research study of an investigational oral medication for birth control.

Qualified participants will receive at no cost for up to 12 months:

  • Periodic gynecological exams
  • Investigational oral birth control medication

Females who are 18-40 years of age, sexually active, and have regular menstrual cycles may be eligible for participation. Compensation is available for time and travel. Participation is Voluntary. IRB#Pro00003596

Depo Provera Study for Women Who Are Not at Risk for Pregnancy

If you’re a woman 18 to 40 years old, not currently pregnant and not planning to become pregnant in the next 12 months, you may be eligible to participate. You must be either: in an exclusively same-gender relationship, in a monogamous relationship with a vasectomized partner, abstinent, or using a non-hormonal IUD. IUD Study

The Clinical Research Center is conducting a research trial of an investigational contraceptive intrauterine system and Mirena®. If you are a healthy female between the ages of 16 and 45, are sexually active and in a mutually monogamous relationship, are willing to rely on the IUS as your primary method of contraception during study participation, have regular menstrual cycles and are willing to comply with study requirements, you may qualify to participate. Women's Health Studies


Chlamydia Study

Have you or your partner been diagnosed with Chlamydia within the last two weeks? The CLINICAL RESEARCH CENTER at EVMS is conducting a clinical research trial of an investigational medication. Both men and women ages 19-45 may be eligible to participate if diagnosed with Chlamydia by a doctor within the last 14 days or if your partner has been diagnosed with it. You must be willing to complete study visits and comply with the study protocol. Financial compensation provided. IRB#Pro00005296
